Doom II: Hell on Earth

Doom II: Hell on Earth

Doom II: Hell on Earth is a first person shooter developed by id Software and released in 30th September 1994 by the GT Interactive Sofware, originally to MS-DOS. The game was later ported to several other platforms such as Mac OS X (1995), PlayStation (1995), Game Boy Advance (2002), Tapwave Zodiac (2004), Xbox (2005), Xbox 360 (2010) and PlayStation 3 (2012).
Doom II: Hell on Earth v1.666 is basically the same deal of its predecessor, Doom, with the most visible updates being a new weapon (the Super Shotgun) and some monsters (Arachnotron, Pain Elemental, Mancubus, Wolfenstein SS and the Revenant). It was built with the same Doom engine with a couple of "under the hood" modifications. Despite that, it is regarded by many as the best of the franchise and continued gathering a legion of maniac players and modders and promoted uncountable hours of deathmatches... And still does!

Plot

Doom II's plot follows the original Doom's story. It's something like that:

After days of fighting on Mars and in hell, you successfully defeated the demon forces and stopped the invasion. Though your efforts are marred by being the last survivor of the bloody massacre, you are nevertheless hailed as a hero. Surely that entitles you to some well deserved R&R, right? Not if those demonic bastards have anything to say about it. Landing on Earth following your discharge, you open your pod to a world of fire and blood as the demons have invaded your homeworld. With everyone being killed or mutated to extinction, it’s up to you to do what you do best: kick some demon ass, stop this invasion and save the world. Armed with your ever trusty shotgun, chainsaw and BFG 9000, you must once again do battle with Hell’s spawn and find a way to save Earth.

Note: This post is like a placeholder. It is still pretty simplified but I plan to enrich it eventually. Any contributions will be appreciated.
