Heretic E1M1 to Map 01

Heretic E1M1 to Map 01 is the first Heretic’s level, The Docks, conversion to Doom II. It practically keeps the same map structure, but some objects were switched in order to keep it playable and balanced. The WAD was built by Facínora, me.
The PWAD uses exclusively Doom 2 resources, except by its background music (it's map's original composed by Kevin Schilder), and practically keeps the objects and enemies in their original positions, with one or another modification or liberty taken in order to balance the map or keep it playable. The starting points for both deathmatches and single player or co-op matches are also present.

The map has lots of space to run, combines narrow and opened areas and has no intricate place to have you lost and away from the action. It promotes good matches, IMHO. Tyrant120, who tested Heretic E1M1 to Map 01 for me said the map has an extremely versatile gameplay, going well in both vanilla as with several of the diverse types of mods.

In fact, Heretic E1M1 to Map 01 is an ancient project that started in 1998 as a test, but never was published and forgotten in the limbo for decades. Monsterman first did it with an ancient tool named WAD1TO2 tool and then it was working, but very ugly. I decided to remake it almost from scratch, fixing textures, objects etc.

The above video is shows the map being played first in single player, without any other mods, and then an offline skirmish on Quake Champions: Doom Edition against bots.

Compatibility

The map comes in a version compatible with only relatively new ZDoom-derivatives* (E1M1HERE.WAD) and one (E1M1-VAN.WAD) that also works on ports such as Chocolate Doom, Odamex, PrBoom, 3DGE and even on the original DOOM2.EXE. Both versions need the IWAD from Doom II: Hell on Earth, a Final Doom’s one or Freedoom’s phase 2.

*I tested with GZDoom (1.8.2, 2.4 and 3.4.1), ZDoom 2.8.1 and Zandronum (2.0 and 3.0).

The map should work perfectly in single player, co-op and multiplayer, and can be combined with many gameplay, weapons and monster mods without any problems.
