Russian Overkill ported to Zan 2.0

Russian Overkill ported to Zan 2.0 is a port of the fun and famous PillowBlaster’s Doom mod made for the Zandronum engine.

The version was created by HexaDoken and features the weapons, items, upgrades, classes, screens, introduction and sounds from the original, with some modifications and adaptations, though, especially in comparison with the newest Russian Overkill’s versions. Added to all that, this port allows multiplayer games on Zandronum.

With this port, HexaDoxen guaranteed the possibility of Russian Overkill multiplayer matches over Zandronum with a proper netcode and all that. He tried to optimize the weapons, but some of them just simply refuse to it. Most of them are okay, but some are still laggy, like the Katuysha, Libra, Yamato and a few others.

In anyway, this Russian Overkill port works fairly good with Zandronum for what we want, although some of the stuff will be missing, related to the original.

Compatibility

I tested Russian Overkill ported to Zan 2.0 here on Zandronum 2.0, 2.1.2 and 3.0, with the IWADs from Doom II: Hell on Earth, The Ultimate Doom, Final Doom and from both Freedoom’s phases. It seems to work fine with all that.

The port seems to work in GZDoom. I tested it on this engine's 1.8.2 version and looked ok. In fact, it was created to play RO multiplayer in Zandronum, but is also useful for combining it with mods that won't work with GZDoom, as is the case of The Chamber of Damnation or for those who want to play The Russian Overkill, but have trouble running the newer GZDooms.

HexaDoxen warns you to set compat_clientssendfullbuttoninfo as true to activate combos and some alternative fire modes, as well as having a good connection, if you intend to host multiplayer matches with the mod.
