Hunter's Moon

Hunter’s Moon is a Doom mod created by Zanieon that, basically, combines both Quake III Arena and Serious Sam gameplays with a more embracing and enriched version of the original Doom's plot.

The mod, so far, features 28 playable characters, with all the Quake III ones, from Team Arena and a special character, taken from Unreal Tournament 3. It also features weaponry that goes beyond Quake III Arena, including two original guns. Added to all that, there are very well done complex maps, that can be played downloading the map packages.

You can play Hunter's Moon with each character that Quake III Arena has, including the additional characters from the Team Arena Expansion and even a extra character from Unreal Tournament 3. Currently there is a total of 29 playable characters: Sarge, Doom, Crash, Grunt, Ranger, Visor, Bitterman, Major, Razor, Xaero, Hunter, Mynx, Lucy, Hossman, Keel, Anarki, Slash, Bones, Orbb, Fritzkrieg, PI, Megan, Morgan, Doomslayer, Klesk, Uriel, TankJr, Sorlag and Tyzen.

A very, very long time after the Vadrigars and the Eternal Arenas began taking the warriors out of the arenas' endless battles to fight for the control of what have locked them there, The Temple Of The Portals was the place where everything connects, it is the universe between the universes, it is a source of unlimited and unimaginable power that even gods want control.

Compatibility

I tested it on GZDoom 2.3 with the Doom II: Hell on Earth, The Ultimate Doom and Freedoom (both phases) IWADs and I didn't notice any problems. There is a Zandronum 3.0 version as well. It's supposed to work with the Final Doom as well, but I didn't test with the IWADs.

About the download

The download package down belo comes with Hunter's Moon V2.8, Map Core V0.2, Map Pack V0.2 and the Editor Resource. If you want to download them separately, follow the HM's thread of the "More" section, on this page. It also has two batch files ready for you to start playing it, if you don't know how to use GZDoom or ZDL:
  • Hunter's Moon.bat - Hunter's Moon complete version, with maps and all that;
  • Hunter's Moon (nomaps).bat - Hunter's Moon with custom maps, more adequate to load the PWAD in slower machines.
