Quake II Stuff

Quake II Stuff, or just Q2Stuff, is a mod for Doom developed by TheCamaleonMaligno that brings monsters, sounds, visual effects and power-ups from Quake II to this other classic id's first-person shooter.

At first, it seemed to be created to be played with custom or default single player Doom maps, but, then, it works in Zandronum since the last update I saw and it's supposed to have cooperative and deathmatch support. I didn't test it, though.

The weapons from Q2Stuff are really awesome, but the enemies are too dark and hard to see sometimes. They are faithful to the original game, though, so it's all good. The modifications certainly made the game harder, if compared to vanilla, but the BFG 10K is quite handy and the Wolfenstein SS replacements, the USMCs, drop extra guns ripped from Quake 1.

Quake II Stuff is certainly one of the tightest jobs we presented at Gaming Room. If you can play it with a Quake-like map, people watching it will think you are playing the actual Quake II or something.

Weapons

  • Blaster - The primary weapon. Has low damage, but endless ammo;
  • Shotgun - The basic shotgun has short range and medium damage;
  • Super Shotgun - Probably the most useful weapon of the mod, with medium to high damage. It has a small range, but knocks down most enemies;
  • Machine gun - It has a vertical kick and high range;
  • Chaingun - Takes up a lot of ammo and has medium to high range;
  • Grenade Launcher - Launches grenades;
  • Rocket Launcher - Launches rockets;
  • Hyperblaster - A quick blaster version. Consumes cells like the BFG and its projectiles have medium speed;
  • Railgun - Uses slugs as ammo, offers high damage and penetrates multiple targets;
  • BFG10K - Has bolts that attacks nearby targets and consumes 50 cells per shot;
  • Thunderbolt (extra) - It's the exact weapon from the Quake 1 with the same name;
  • Nailgun (extra) - It also behaves like its Quake 1 version.

Compatibility

Quake II Stuff should work with GZDoom  and Zandronum 3.0, and with the IWADs from Doom, Doom II: Hell on Earth, The Ultimate Doom and Final Doom and from both Freedoom's phases. According to the author, it as cooperative and deathmatch support with Zandronum 3.0.
