Spawn: Path to Damnation

Spawn: Path to Damnation is a Doom mod developed by GAA1992 (Dr_Cosmobyte) and released on September 17, 2020 whose protagonist is the popular character created by Todd McFarlane in the early 90s.

The mod features weapons, special abilities, graphics, music, HUD and pick-ups inspired on Spawn (of course), with elements made off his movie, animation, games and, of course, comics. Regarding the skills system, it is worth mentioning that it is one of the highlights of Spawn: Path to Damnation, as it promotes dynamism in the gameplay, both because of the new ways of attacking and interacting on maps and because the player depends on mana to use the spells.

Finally, the mod has a pleasant retro style and atmosphere that is very well combined with more advanced first person shooter mechanics.

Videos

In the above video, I briefly try a closed alpha build of Spawn: Path to Damnation. The mod has been updated since then, but it still presents the work in a decent manner. Don't forget to enable English subtitles if you can't read Portuguese.

In the second video, I played a match on the Stranded in Hell map with Spawn: Path to Damnation, Colourful Hell, Nash's Gore Mod: Vengeance Edition v1.2 and Doom 64 Textures and Palette. I made this video to celebrate the first public version of the Spawn's mod.

Plot

Al Simmons.

Former soldier, betrayed by his own commanders. In his ultimate demise, made a deal by selling his soul in the afterlife to Malebolgia, ruler of the eight circle of Hell, all so he could see his beloved Wanda once more...but in doing so he became a Hellspawn, one of hell's most deadly warrior units.

Everyone already knows this story: it happened a long time ago and Malebolgia was killed, betrayed by Al just like he was by his superiors in life.

Even though Malebolgia should be dead by now, Spawn felt a demonic presence of the lower spheres coming to Earth. Another portal opened by Jason Wynn? Malebolgia coming back for vengeance? It doesn't really matter now.

Better send them back with some chains and bullets, maybe that'll help 'em stay where they really ought to.

Short description

In Spawn: Path to Damnation, you will take control of the coolest 90's anti-hero! Use chains, guns, spells, and what else you have at hand to kick ass and send those demons back to their home.

Spawn Jukebox

Put together by Dr_Cosmobyte himself, Spawn Jukebox is an add-on for Spawn: Path to Damnation that randomly plays songs to match that whole Spawn theme, specially from the games. It promises not to have any commercial music to avoid copyright issues, but you know how these things are, so I can't guarantee anything.

Spawn Jukebox is already included along with the base mod and other add-ons in our pack, but you can get it separately from the following link:

Download Spawn Jukebox @ MediaFire - 226.59 MB.

Alternate Sounds

Created by Wolvexus, Alternate Sounds (SpawnSoundpack.pk3) is a sound effect pack that promises more power to your guns, adding that punch you want. It is also already included in our package, but you can get it separately from the link down below:

Download Alternate Sounds @ MediaFire - 798,24 KB.

Vídeo

On GM72's Mod Combos #24, Alternate Sounds and Path to Damnation were used in order to play the first two levels of WAD.wad with Punisher Monster Replacer/Manhunt version (Cartoony), PaintTextures and some songs from The Punisher (1993) game:

Compatibility

We tested Spawn: Path to Damnation here with GZDoom 4.4.2 and LZDoom 3.86a, with the IWADs from Doom II: Hell on Earth, The Ultimate Doom, Final Doom, Heretic, Hexen and Freedoom. It works well with Chex Quest and Chex Quest 3, but some decoration items may look weird.

In our download pack, you'll find the full Spawn: Path to Damnation. It comes with the base mod (SpawnMod.pk3), the alternative title (AlternateTitlemap.pk3), a jukebox with Spawn's music (SpawnJukebox.pk3) and SpawnSoundpack.pk3, which is an alternative sound pack made by Wolvexus.

Older versions

The newest Spawn: Path to Damnation version is 1.2, released on March, 3 2021, but you can get some older version down below:
