Hokuto no Doom: 19XX Edition

Hokuto no Doom: 19XX Edition is our cut of the game developed by Benoit Spacher (aka iceman57) based on Hokuto no Ken, the seminal anime and manga written by Buronson and illustrated by Tetsuo Hara.
Hokuto no Doom: 19XX Edition brings a gore and blood system that makes enemies explode with Kenshiro’s attacks (a modification of the Sergeant Mark IV's Ketchup Gore Mod), includes the very beautiful iceman57's Metz Cathedral map available for deathmatches and organizes its custom assets, separating them from the shareware Doom, over which Hokuto no Doom was originally built and distributed with.

This edition doesn’t bring any gameplay modifications and keeps all the created and adapted resources from the first game’s version, such as textures, sprites, sound effects, background music, etc.

Compatibility

As the original Hokuto no Doom was standalone, I decided to create a package for the 19XX Edition that comes with Freedoom and an advanced Doom port, Zandronum 3.0, being practically ready to play. You'll just need to set controls, resolution, etc. But if you prefer to play with another port, Hokuto in Doom: 19XX Edition seems to work fine here on GZDoom (1.8.2, 2.4.0 and 3.7.2) with the IWADs from The Ultimate Doom and Freedoom's phase 1.

Hokuto no Doom originally came with Doom95, but Zandronum does everything this engine did, with the advantage of not being extremely obsolete and limited, allowing, in addition to online matches and deathmatches, jumping, mouse look, using multiple and higher resolutions etc. It also brings hundreds of settings and improvements in the graphics and in the user interface.

The 19XX Edition is also compatible with the Kimo Xvirus' melee patch (HNDMELEE.WAD), but the gore system won't work as it should be. But I plan to fix that in the future.
