Dead Marine Redux is a rebalanced and reworked edition of the Gifty’s Doom WAD made by mrtaterz that focuses more in gameplay modifications than just aesthetic enhancements.
Compared to the original Dead Marine, this mod brings the ability to kill monsters faster with head shots, inventory to stack pick-ups that can be used later, more movement dynamics (tilting), changes in the weapons behaviors, a substantial scenarios enhancements and only one difficulty level, which is quite hard. In addition, the enemies are now mostly undead and new weapons, such as grenades and a long range rifle, have been added to the arsenal.
The PWAD has minor details, such as the background music always restarting when the player dies or the no savegame option in the menu. Looks like you have to get a certain item to save the game. I also think that Dead Marine Redux uses that vanilla maps enhancement stuff that Sergeant Mark IV created for Brutal Doom v21.

I found Dead Marine Redux a challenging experience. It's not something I would binge play for hours, because I'm more into something more run and gun where I don't need to think too much. However, I found it interesting how this work presents typical modifications from realism WADs, but still keeps things in a fairly arcade-style.
I'd also say it's worth to see how mrtaterz took Gifty's graphics enhancements and combined these with even more visual advances, making the game look really neat.

Compatibility
Dead Marine Redux ran here on GZDoom 4.2.0, with the IWADs from Doom II: Hell on Earth, The Ultimate Doom, Final Doom and Freedoom. This PWAD also has a mobile device compatible version as well, which is include in our download pack, by the way.
