In the debut edition of the Gaming DooM Awards, we elected and presented the 10 most interesting mods for Doom that showed up in 2020.
Note that the mods are listed in no order from worst to best (or vice versa), and many I got to know during the recording of the 31st episode of the Gaming DooM, our series of narrated videos about the id Software's FPS, which ended up being very informal, although it was something we really wanted to do. If it works, next year we will try to do something better.
The Gaming Doom 31 video is right down below, although it has no English subtitles:
Let's go to what's important, the mods:

Combined Arms: Gaiden
Punkwild
Punkwild is a gameplay mod by A.Gamma heavily inspired by the likes of DemonSteele and Psychic, where you'll take control of Jazz, a tough-as-nails, wise-cracking punk girl who just had enough of demons.
Spawn: Path to Damnation
Spawn: Path to Damnation is a mod developed by GAA1992 whose protagonist is the popular character created by Todd McFarlane in the early 90s. It features weapons, special abilities, graphics, music, HUD and pick-ups inspired by the Spawn (of course), built around his movie, animation, games and, of course, comics.
In the following video, I play Spawn: Path to Damnation with Colourful Hell in the Stranded in Hell. map. I could show a lot of the PWAD's arsenal:

Doom: Eternal Slayer
Doom: Eternal Slayer is a zheg's mod that promises a new gameplay never seen in the classic Doom. Completly 3D player model with third person perspective, fast-paced action and cool animations to hack n' slash the monsters in many ways, adding an exclusive experience for Doom players.

Major's Minecraft Mania
Also named Triple M, Major's Minecraft Mania is a mod created by Major Cooke that adds Minecraft mobs to your Doom matches, and it's built for universal gameplay, meaning that mods like Brutal Doom should run fine with it, even though some extraneous effects like fatalities or glory kills from D4D/D4T won't work.

Video
In the following video, I play a Doom 2 match using Major's Minecraft Mania on the Evil Village map with Jumping Flash Doom, PaintTextures, and Doom SNES Jukebox - TetraPack:
Behead the Undead 2: Project Crypt
Behead the Undead 2: Project Crypt is an independent first-person shooter inspired by Cry of Fear created and released by Large Hard (olzhas1one, Tabijaky and Megazombieman115). It was built on GZDoom, the advanced Doom port.
In our video down below, we played and showcased a bit of this great project that doesn't even look like Doom:

Live Through DOOM
Developed by -Ghost-, Live Through DOOM is described as a standalone GZDoom-only mod that merges Brutal Doom's modern gameplay with many new features that will make it closer to a survival horror game, but only to the extent that it doesn't trump overall gameplay flow.
Inspired by games such as Resident Evil, System Shock, Alien vs Predator/Isolation, Silent Hill, and others, Live Through DOOM promises a sense of novelty and replayability to the good old game and its custom maps.
You'll be scavenging maps for equipment, slowly bleed to death with an open wound looking desperately for some bandages, and facing tough demons that can tear your body to shreds in mere seconds. Your flashlight battery can die out just when you hear a weird noise inside a completely dark room.
You are not walking in the park, Hell is not your playground anymore. You are Living Through Doom.

Hellrider
Hellrider is a very well made and fast-paced gameplay enhancement mod made by Endie (aka. Moa Dixøn) that puts you in the shoes of Rachel "Hellrider" Williams, an angry lady who has a certain affinity with firearms in general.
Vídeo
Down below, you can watch the official Hellrider's trailer. It's quite cool:
Honorable mentions
The mods below were to be awarded, but were left out of the video not because of the lack of quality, but because I couldn't find much information about them to present them properly (or they were too WIP, my scatteredbrain forgot it or I came to know them before I finished the video):
- VietDoom;
- Corruption Cards;
- Malice;
- Nobody Told Me About id;
- SWWM GZ;
- Doosk;
- Terraweps Overhaul;
- Highway Acceleroid Booster.
Anyway, leave your thoughts about these mods in the comments, what mods were missing, etc.
Cheers!
