Doom 64 Weapons Only

Doom 64 Weapons Only is a Doom mod created by Nevander that exclusively brings the Doom 64's arsenal, allowing it to be used against the original monsters or combined with several enemy's packs.
The PWAD should also be compatible with a large quantity of maps and, using a patch that comes with it, works okay on The Ultimate Doom, tying all the missions together in order to have a straight progress like in Doom 64, without levels being divided into episodes. Added to that, the mod features an extended version that brings new weapons, which were created following the original N64 cartridge style.

As far as I could understand, Doom 64 Weapons was built based on other mods such as Doom 64 WMI Redux (Dreadflame), D64 Unabsolved (AEnima) and YH-D64Weapons (HazeBandicoot), combining from parts of these and other works, to a greater or lesser extent. The full credits are in the D64WEAPS.TXT file.

In the above showcase, I combined Doom 64 Weapons Only with the following mods: Castle of the Damned, Doom 64 for Doom II, Chex to Doom, Brutal Doom v21 Monsters Only, YHDoom 64 e WolfenDOOM - The Original Missions, not all of them at the same time, of course. Don't forget to turn the English subtitles on if you don't understand Portuguese.


Short Facínora's review

You can say that this WAD is kinda "Frankenstein", but it fulfills its proposal well. The weapon's animations and graphics are quite well made and nice to use. It also can be combined with several other mods or even can be a basis for new projects Facínora approves Doom 64 Weapons Only.

Compatibility

I ran Doom 64 Weapons Only here on GZDoom (1.8.2, 2.4.0, 3.7.2 and 4.2.0), Zandronum 3.0 and LZDoom 3.83a, with the IWADs from Doom II: Hell on Earth, The Ultimate Doom, Final Doom and Freedoom.

Attention: note that on Doom/The Ultimate Doom or on Freedoom's Phase 1, you'll need to use the D64ULTDM.WAD patch. What this does is tie all the episodes together so that E1M8 goes straight to E2M1 and so on. This was done so that the Unmaker would be obtainable, usable, and upgradable throughout the game without being taken away constantly due to ending episodes.

You should also have in mind that that not every map or mod should work perfectly with Doom 64 'weapons only' wad by Nevander. Check the TXT that comes with the mod out for more information or just make trial and error experiences for yourself.
