Meatgrinder

Meatgrinder is a mod developed by Sergeant Mark IV that brings the dismemberments, explosions, and special effects from Brutal Doom to a more friendly setting to slaughter maps. It was created to make things easier for those who don't have the time to learn how to play hardcore mods or use very inadequate controls, such as a mobile device's touchscreen, to do it.

In order to adapt the gameplay in this direction, Meatgrinder features a more efficient version of the vanilla arsenal, but not in a very overpowered level. The monsters got modifications in their behavior and damage inflicting capacity as well.

Meatgrinder fulfills it's proposal well and the weapons are delicious to use. However, it is not a cooperative Brutal Doom, as some are saying it is. Yes, it is indeed suitable for co-op matches in slaughtermaps, but it is a work that stands on its own, not being just another variation of Brutal Doom, PWAD from which it borrows only a few elements.

In the above showcase, RiboZurai128 played Meatgrinder in two levels from Sunder, a very known slaughtermap. Don't forget to turn the English subtitles on if you don't understand Portuguese.

Compatibility

I ran the mod here on GZDoom (1.8.2, 2.4.0, 3.7.2 and 4.2.0), Zandronum 3.0 and LZDoom 3.84, with the IWADs from Doom II: Hell on Earth, The Ultimate Doom and Final Doom.

You can also use Freedoom, if you don't have any registered IWAD, but some death animations might look funky, since the extra frames used for all the gore and stuff are still in the classic Doom's style.
